Thankful

I am reminding myself that I am thankful that we have passed the September 1 deadline and we have Nathan....No he doesn't live with us yet, but he is ours. I was feeling a little bad today because things are not looking as optomistic at traveling before the end of the year. I need to remember that I am not without a referral and starting over. We have Nathan and God is in control of the timing of his arrival.

Terague Beach

These are the shoots of new palm trees. The coconuts dry out and sprout....we are trying it in our front yard with the pineapples! No sprouting yet. We'll see.
This is the view from Sander's Slope. It is headed down from the base to the beach. My dad was asking about this. Here are some pictures to help visualize.

Weekend

I have promised friends a new post with photos today.....but I didn't do it. Let me give you my excuses. Dave had a retreat this weekend and the girls and I were looking forward to tagging along and sipping pina coladas near the pool and working more on my tan at the Hilton! I have never stayed at a Hilton before. I was ready to live it up. We arrived at noon in time for our free lunch and were going to check in and begin the festivities. Well, check in wasn't until 2. We walked around and scoped out the pool with a great water slide and tried to get the Parrot outside to talk. Our room was finally finished at 2:40 and we arrived to a double bed. Now this isn't going to work for the four of us. We switched rooms with another couple without children and were able to get two doubles (or so we thought) and ended up with two twins! Dave and I hadn't done it in a while, but we can share a twin bed for a night. We were up for the adventure.....we were going to remember vividly the good old days. After dinner we were going to experience the pool...the ice machine was broken, so no pina coladas by the pool. When we got down there, we had missed the slide. They had already turned it off. So we decided to sit in the hot tub and have the girls in the pool next to us. Both were extreme temperatures. So, I ended up sitting on the edge with my feet dipped about an inch deep. We were going to make the best of it and invited our friends up to the room for the pina coladas. We enjoyed it and Dave needed his sleep for the conference, so we headed to bed at a decent time. At about 2:30 a.m. I heard the heavy rain. We are right on the ocean, it's rainy season, I just figured we could hear it really well. Dave announced that there was a leak in our bathroom to get up and get dressed that we would be moving rooms. Agh! We are now on to room #3! They generously upgraded us to a suite. Very nice, but I had already had enough.

The plan was to have us all ready for updated family photos on the sand by the ocean with palm trees and everything. I had us ready, but it was still raining cats and dogs......no photos this weekend. I'll try again soon.

We Have Eggs!

If I ever have a question, I always start with Google to answer it. So, after Miranda found these, I decided I needed to find out more. They are Gecko eggs and should hatch in about 40 days. I am going to leave them be and hope that mamma Gecko knew what she was doing. After attending the spouse's orientation on base I needed to confirm that they weren't brown tree snake eggs. They aren't. If they were snake eggs, they would be bigger and there would be more! How little miss Gecko got here, I don't know and how they don't get smashed with shutting the door, I don't know either. Hopefully it works out for them. It is our front door and I can't leave it open....I need no room for Mr. brown tree snake to get in!!!!

Holt Update Day!!!

We received Nathan's update from Holt today:
*He is healthy and 23.5 lbs.
*He likes to play with his foster siblings and doesn't like to share toys.
*He always finishes his food and likes rice and milk.
*He can put his shoes on the right feet.
*He is an active and friendly guy and has a social smile when approached.
*He prefers his foster mom.
*He likes to go out with his foster parents and brother on the motorbike!

Now for the best part....

We were disappointed to not see him with his monkey, clothes, or photos that we sent, but are thankful that he is healthy and doing well.

Happy Birthday Dave!

Dave turns 39 and holding today! For his birthday I purchased him a new ukulele and myself a laptop :) Our desktop died with the move and sharing a computer wasn't working. I hope to get some reimbursement from our loss at some point, but I couldn't hold out any longer.

The girls made Dad a Ukulele cake too. Didn't they do a great job? Happy Birthday Dave. You are the best Dad and husband anywhere!

Getting to know the Navy Hospital

Dave called and said that he just finished up at the Navy Hospital. He slipped on the wet mud and cut his hand on the coral. They cleaned it out and gave him antibiotics, no need for stitches. While he was out, I went in to have my ears checked before I signed up and paid for scuba lessons. I have always had trouble with my ears and have not been able to clear them like I need to for diving. The doctor that saw me confirmed that there was no movement in my ear and that I needed to see the ENT at the Navy Hospital before we cancelled all hopes of scuba diving. I'm ok with just snorkeling. We'll see what the ENT says.

Space A

Good news and bad news......Good news is there was a flight to Klamath Falls, Oregon this morning. Bad news....I'm not sure that I could fly back home :) When I told Dave that there was a flight he told me to take it. This week is his birthday and we just arrived in Guam. I don't have a NEED to fly to Oregon. I chose not to. The fun and adventure of it sure was tempting. I was not adventurous enough to possibly pay for a one way flight back to Guam. It simply isn't in the budget with the adoption travel possibly being soon (Please continue to pray that travel is soon) So, I am hanging out here with the family and trying to think of some fun ways to celebrate Dave's birthday. It isn't the big one yet....that's next year!

More Preparations

Well, I got the most painful part of "child birth" over with for Nathan. I went in yesterday and had my vaccinations updated. I needed 3! I have a follow up to get after Sept 10, but that is the first day of the opening of the new BX. The booster will have to wait until the next week :) I was really dreading my tetanus. I hurt for so long afterwards the last time I had to get one. This time was MUCH better than the last. The nurse said that there was a new "recipe." Thank goodness!

War on the Pacific National Park

One more stamp in our passports! We hung out around the house too long on Labor Day and almost missed the War on the Pacific National Park Visitor's Center. Luckily, we don't live far. Dave is going to go visit again when he has more time and can read it all and explore a little more.

Open House

After our good news on Saturday we went to the Oriental Market so I could cook Vietnamese. I made the best home made Lemongrass Chicken yet!
We invited Dave's coworkers, the church leadership and other new acquaintences to our house for some good food and fellowship. It was so much fun! (Above) Miranda was checking out the "coffee shop" outside.
Dave caught me grazing. We all overate!

Antelope!

My brother is the hunter among us. Earlier I posted the bobcat and now I have an antelope to show you. I enjoy sharing this because it reminds me so much of growing up and is paramount to who our family is. I never really got into hunting much, or staying out with the bugs and the cold weather, but sure enjoy getting pictures!
