5 Weeks and Nothin' Yet

Still haven't heard a darn thing. I'm trying to be ok with the wait. I know that so many people have waited longer than us, but so many have waited so much less too. I have to keep reminding myself that these few days/weeks will soon be forgotten and we will be basking in the fullness of a family of 5.

On another note, we have received some WONDERFUL news for one of our fellow Dong Nai families. They have received DOJ approval and will be on the road to getting their little guy soon. They have waited for 16 months for this step. It was way overdue. There are still two other families that we are close to that still are waiting on this approval. Please continue to pray for speedy approvals for them.

On yet another fun note, my parents and my brother and his family had dinner together in Oregon and they got on Skype and I was able to see everybody including my new nephew and my niece who is growing so fast. It was fun to see her sing Itsy Bitsy Spider and tell me her name. She now calls herself "Timmy," I'm don't remember all of the details of why, but she can't say the "c" or the "k" sounds very well, so she changed her name for the time being. Just the boost that I needed. So, I spent most of the day on the computer and didn't get a whole lot done today, but had a lot of fun!

Unofficial Update

Our agency rep was in Vietnam and saw Nathan and has this to say about him:

He is CUTE!
He is happy!
He is social!
He is potty trained!!!!!!
He doesn't drink from a cup, or a straw. He uses a baby bottle.
When he is upset he likes to go for a walk or play with toys.
He likes balls, cars and watching TV.
He isn't scared of anything (has he seen white people?...I forgot to ask)
He likes candy and cookies!
He hasn't been given his monkey. It is lost. I sent photos and the agency will try to locate it.
He sleeps in bed with his foster parents.
I have an outline of his feet. They don't have standardized sizes, so there isn't a translation of sizes. I sure hope he fits all of the clothes that have been purchase for him!
We will be waiting a while longer. No word of approval. Ugh!

New Photos of Nathan

Here are some photos of Nathan with his foster mom. We are anxious to go get him! We have a call scheduled with our agency tomorrow to discuss the whole list of questions that I sent. No travel approval yet! Grrrr. I'm getting impatient.

President's Day

This is our crazy girl. This is what she looked like on our way down to the beach. Her outfit included wireless headphones and snorkel, she was only missing her mask!
We stopped at the girls' new favorite BBQ stand for lunch. Christy has made an appearance with us for the weekend (she stayed with the girls when I went to Saipan with Dave)

For President's Day, we went to the beach. This is a beach I have not been to yet. Dave has been there for his dive certification. What a great family day. My kids will fight me each time we suggest going, but after we get out there they are fine. Miranda is now willing to snorkel.

We have a little video of Miranda snorkeling. Thanks to Dave, we have a video camera now! I received this as a gift for Valentine's Day. I am still trying to figure out how to get the video edited and here. I'm too tired right now.

We are preparing to be in Vietnam and a video camera is a must. I have been playing with it so that I know how to use it. I have been cooking meals and putting them in the freezer for the girls and their "babysitters" while we are gone. I hope to be packing some of Nathan's suitcase and gifts for the government officials this week as well. I want to be ready when we get a call to head to Vietnam!

Happy Valentine's Day!

This shirt is just a prop...not my idea :)

Dave spoke at a Valentine's Day Dinner last night. It was fun to see what he had to say about marriage. I like to be there and keep him accountable. He did a great job speaking, and is the best husband around.

Dong Nai Movement!!!!!!

We received word from our friends that the Dong Nai Officials have given a verbal approval and will be receiving DOJ approval soon! This is such a huge relief and blessing. Nathan's buddies WILL be coming home! Thank you for your prayers. Now, please continue to pray that the process is expedited and they all come home SOON!

Ah, I'm glad time is flying by. Tomorrow will mark 3 weeks since we received MOJ approval. There have been families that got travel dates at 4 weeks and some at 8 weeks.....I sure hope we will get ours sooner than later!

Only on Guam

These are just random shots....all in one day. I tried to capture a few things that you don't normally see in the states, but happens to be an every day occurrence here.

I had an interesting time at the dentist today. You know, I worked in a very nice dental office and know how things are "supposed" to work. I felt like I was in a third world country dental office. Not quite, but I was nervous! I came out fine and will look for another dental office for the kiddos.

No minivan necessary here!
Hmmm....I think the sign says it all.
Miranda's karate school is not air conditioned and so the doors are open for the breeze. If you look close, you can see a roaming chicken out back. They are everywhere here.
This one is just for fun. Miranda is really enjoying her karate. Today, she left a little early. I didn't need her too worn out. She has been fighting another ear infection.
